Pepperoni Pizza Dip

This creamy dip is packed with the flavour of a classic pizza with a gooey texture that lends itself perfectly to crunchy crackers, tortillas, thick potato chips or even sliced baguette.

Serves: 6-8

Ingredients:

  • 3 tbsp (45 mL) butter
  • 1 cup (250 mL) diced pepperoni or semi-cured chorizo sausage
  • 1 clove garlic, minced (optional)
  • 3 tbsp (45 mL) all purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp (2 mL) each dried oregano and basil leaves
  • 1/4 tsp (1 mL) hot pepper flakes
  • Pinch salt
  • 1 1/2 cups (375 mL) milk
  • 1 cup (250 mL) shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup (125 mL) pizza sauce
  • 3 tbsp (45 mL) chopped green or black olives (optional)

Preparation Method

In, a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Add pepperoni and garlic (if using) and cook, stirring for 1 minute. Stir in flour, oregano, basil, hot pepper flakes and salt; cook for 1 minute. Gradually add milk and whisk until smooth and combined. Cook, stirring for about 3 minutes or until thickened. Stir in cheese and pizza sauce until cheese is melted. Pour into serving dish and sprinkle with olives (if using) to serve.
